About Us
At New North we are ambitious for every child and expect our Academy to be child-centred and an exemplary place of learning.
Our vision is to:
Create a safe and caring community with children, who love learning, at its heart and where staff and parents work together to ensure that each child is given the best possible opportunities to achieve success both within and beyond the Academy.
Our aims are:
- For every child to achieve exceptional outcomes by the time they are 11
- For every child to become a resilient young person who is determined, self-disciplined and confident
- For our Academy to embrace and develop an ethos which drives up standards in all aspects but does this through traditional and creative approaches, whilst retaining a sense of curiosity, enjoyment and fun
Our school day
At the New North Academy the school day begins at 8.40am when the gates to the playground are opened to welcome our children for the day. The doors to the building open at 8.45am, allowing children into classrooms to be met by their class teachers. These 15 minutes before registration gives the children the opportunity to get themselves organised and prepare for the day ahead. They will also join in an interesting ‘welcome’ activity to get everyone ready and focused to learn.
At 8.55am the gates and doors close in time for a prompt 9am registration.
The timetables below show a typical day for each key stage. These will change from time to time, allowing for the flexibility needed in the exciting and varied life of a primary school.
After School Enrichment Activities
For many of our children and families, the day does not finish here. The school runs a wide range of activities throughout the week, both after school and at lunchtimes, designed to capture children’s imaginations, offer a wider ‘Passport to London’ and enable them to pursue their own particular learning passions. The majority of Afterschool Enrichment Activities run between 3.15pm and 4.15pm, but this can depend on the activity being delivered.
Early Years Foundation Stage (Foundation Stage 1 and Foundation Stage 2)
The morning lasts between 8.45am and 11.45am. During this time the children experience and wide range of interesting and stimulating activities and experiences, which take place in both the inside and outside learning spaces.
EYFS lunch begins at 11.55am, they eat in the main hall. The afternoon lasts between 12.55pm and 3.10pm with further activities and experiences.
